The Sophie Vineyard Barossa Valley

With a Barossa classification of Survivor vines and Old Vines planted in sandy loam and limestone soil, the Calabria Family saw the beauty in the 13.30 hectare vineyard, making the purchase in 2012.

Comprising of 70 year old Shiraz vines and 35 year old Cabernet vines, the Sophie Vineyard is named after Bill and Lena Calabria’s first granddaughter, Sophie Elizabeth. The vineyard is located on Samuel road between Nurioopta & Marananga and split by the flowing Para River.

Bill dedicates many hours in the vineyard ensuring the ancient vines are nurtured and since the purchase, Bill has planted a selection of alternative varieties at the Sophie estate, to include; Nero d’Avola, Montepulciano and Durif.
